Hybernite Rainout Control System for Humidified CPAP Machines

Rainout is very disruptive to a restful night sleep. It occurs when room air temperature is cold and cause the water vaper from the CPAP to condense. The condensation builds up throughout the night leading to a gurgling and/or bucking sound as air flows over the water around bends in the tubing. I use a ResVent CPAP. It has a heated water reseviour, but unlike some CPAP machines, does not have a heated tube option. This is my third Hybernite in the last two years. The connection from the power cord to the tube broke almost immediately on the first unit. I'm partly to blame as I did not have a way to turn the power on/off without disconnecting the power supply from the tube. I was disconnecting the power cord where it connected to the tube. The flange that helps secure the connection broke, thereafter, the power cord would not fit securely. The instructions could have been improved. With the second unit I would disconnect the power by pulling the plug leading from the wall electric socket to the AC adapter. It didn't take long for the AC adapter to crap out. I suspect the connection of the cord leading into the adapter went bad. My third Hybernite arrive just a few weeks ago. It is improved in that there is an off/on toggle near the cord leading into the tubing. Genius! Now I can turn the heated tube on without disconnecting cords. It is convenient being close to the tubing (versus close to the adapter which would require getting out of bed). I do not anticipate future problems with the improved hypernite rainout control system. A couple of other tricks. I pre-heat the water resevoir at least thirty (30) minutes before bedtime on cold nights. It takes time to warm up 2 cups of 55 degree water. I turn on the Hybernite about the same time ahead of going to bed. I've put the Hybernite away as the weather warms up. We still have nights where the temperature gets into the 40s. I have some rainout that wakes me up in this weather. I simply turn over in bed, unhook the tube from the facemask, and allow the water to drain onto the floor. Its not a lot. I simply clean up the water in the morning. Not any worse than getting up to go to the bathroom during the night. I got the ResVent just as the Philip's CPAP units were being recalled. While the Hybernite is doing what its meant to do, I do think I would have preferred a CPAP machine that had an integrated heated tube; one that could be controlled by the device itself. I like the ResVent CPAP but do think an integrated heated tube would be an improvement.

Only complaint is I wish it had an on off switch. Unplugging and plugging every time behind the night stand is a pain. I think I’m going to try one of those plugs with the on off switch.

It's a very good product but too warm for me, could use a variable heat control.

Mine runs too hot regardless of humidifier setting. Dries out humidified air and tubing is hot to the touch. Yes, this needs a variable heat control plus on/off switch. A novel idea but mine (NEW) is borked!

It's a good idea but you should allow the customers to adjust the heat. The air still to cold for my sinuses.

No moisture in hose or mask at all.

This product is a a life changer. I was pouring water out of my tube every night when I would wake up to my mask gurgling... Defeating the purpose of the mask and getting a good night's sleep right? That's what I thought as well so I finally shelled out the money for the Hybernite, and boy I wish I would have done it sooner. Don't delay buy right away and you will never need a life raft in bed again!!!!

Because of my sinuses, I need to have warmer air than the heated hoses that come with most machines generate. This is my answer.

Best investment I made. Vastly improved my cpap comfort.

I use a cold-pass humidifier after the CPAP machine because the internal heated humidifier was not sufficient in this dry climate. I had to stop using the cold humidifier when the nights were cold enough to cause condensation. The Hybernite system completely eliminated the problem.

Simple to set up and use. Stops the condensation and water up the nose. Works like is says it does. Two negatives, plastic smell from outgassing in the tube for the first night or so of use and the hose ends are of a stiffer material than the normal hose ends, but do not pose a problem. I am very happy with the system after using it for a couple of nights.
