2025 BiLevel & BiPAP Machine Buying Guide
DirectHomeMedical’s 2025 BiPAP & BiLevel Machine Buying Guide makes choosing your ideal sleep therapy device simple. Our expert insights and easy-to-follow comparison chart highlight key features--pressure modes, humidification, sound level, weight, connectivity, and more--so you can quickly find the model that fits your comfort needs and prescription.
What Makes BiPAP Different?
BiPAP (BiLevel Positive Airway Pressure) machines provide two pressure levels--one for inhaling and a lower one for exhaling--creating a more natural breathing rhythm than standard CPAP therapy. This dual-pressure design is ideal for users who need higher pressure support or experience complex sleep apnea, helping you breathe easier and sleep deeper every night.
(BiPAP Machines are great; but they're not for everyone. If your doctor has prescribed CPAP therapy, click here to check out our CPAP Machine Buying Guide.)
Types of BiPAP Machines
Today’s BiPAP machines offer smart technology and personalized comfort. Choose from fixed-pressure BiLevel models for consistent therapy or Auto BiLevel systems that automatically adjust to your breathing patterns. For your convenience, all of the machines in our buying guide feature both BiPAP and Auto-BiPAP modes. If your prescription calls for more advanced therapy modes like "BiPAP ASV" or "BiPAP ST" please get in touch with our Care Team to discuss available options.
Key Features to Compare
When choosing a sleep therapy device, it’s important to look beyond the basics and focus on features that impact comfort, performance, and convenience. Most modern BiLevels have similar pressure ranges; but comfort-enhancing features--like exhalation relief, ramp, heated humidifiers, and heated tubing options--can vary from unit to unit; and data tracking and Bluetooth connectivity may be a factor if you need to provide compliance data to your doctor or employer or if you simply want to be able to monitor your sleep therapy success
FAA Approval & Travel Readiness
Every BiPAP machine we sell at DirectHomeMedical is FAA-approved for in-flight use, making it easy to maintain your sleep therapy routine wherever you go. Whether you’re traveling for business, vacation, or overnight trips, your BiPAP can safely accompany you on the plane. We recommend packing all necessary accessories--including power cords, adapters, and extra filters or batteries--in your carry-on for convenience. Always bring a copy of your prescription for airport security, and contact your airline prior to travel to ensure you meet their requirements for carriage. With a little preparation, you can enjoy restful, uninterrupted sleep no matter where your travels take you.

NOTES: Dimensions and weight are approximations. Typical sound levels for portable oxygen concentrators are measured at a setting of 2. Typical sound levels for home oxygen concentrators are measured at the highest liter flow. Typical sound levels for sleep therapy devices are measured at average therapy settings with an overall accuracy of +/- 2dBA. In all cases an adapter or special tubing is required when using CPAP with an oxygen concentrator. FAA Approval indicated for use on all Commercial Flights departing from or arriving in the US. Contact your airline for any specific requirements. Review manufacturer's specifications and documentation for additional information on product specifications and features. |
