INTUITIVE GRAPHIC USER INTERFACE & AMBIENT LIGHT SENSORS
DreamStation's graphic user interface was designed with feedback from patients and doctors so it is easy to use, intelligent and informative. The machine's a large navigation dial is intuitive and convenient; and the bright, front facing display uses simple menus, icons and labels that are easy to understand.
DreamStation's settings can be adjusted while lying down or sitting up in bed and the machine's ambient light sensor adjusts display brightness automatically depending on light levels in the room.

The DreamStation Auto is an advanced APAP machine that monitors your breathing for flow limitations and adapts to them, automatically adjusting therapy throughout the night to ensure you're receiving the optimum pressure for a comfortable and successful sleep.
DreamStation Auto goes a step beyond traditional APAP therapy with Opti-Start. When Opti-Start is enabled DreamStation Auto will begin each therapy session at a pressure that is close to the previous session's 90% pressure, in order to reduce the likelihood of residual events at the beginning of a therapy session.
SMARTRAMP MAKES THERAPY EASY
In addition to the traditional pressure ramp available on most sleep therapy devices, DreamStation Auto offers SmartRamp for an easier experience at the onset of sleep. When SmartRamp is enabled the DreamStation Auto will monitor your therapy levels, during the ramp period, to deliver lower overall pressure until it detects an obstructive respiratory event. When an event is detected SmartRamp responds to resolve the event, raising pressures as required until the ramp period concludes.
INTEGRATED HUMIDIFIER
The DreamStation's Heated Humidifier is an elegant match to the DreamStation Auto's intelligent therapy offerings. The humidifier snaps securely onto the back of the DreamStation device to form a single integrated unit that can be setup and adjusted from the machine's primary LCD display.
In "Standard" mode the DreamStation Heated Humidifier acts like a typical heated humidifier, heating to the same pre-selected temperature level throughout the night. But the DreamStation Heated Humidifier can go beyond that with an "Adaptive" mode that delivers a precise, user selected, level of humidification at the mask throughout the night regardless of external factors like room temperature, flow rate, or external humidity. DreamStation Heated Tubing can also be added to provide extra protection from rainout and allow greater humidity levels than traditional non-heated tubing.
ADVANCED COMFORT FEATURES & A-FLEX PRESSURE RELIEF
Philips Respironics's clinically-proven A-Flex pressure relief technology enhances traditional positive airway pressure therapy to improve comfort and increase compliance. Thanks to the advanced Digital Auto-Trak algorithm, that detects the onset of inspiration and exhalation, the DreamStation Auto delivers just the right amount of pressure relief, at the beginning and end of every breath, to provide a more natural breathing experience.
In addition to A-Flex, DreamStation Auto is equipped with Mask Fit Check tool to help with mask fitting, a Performance Check tool to ensure that your machine is working properly, EZ-Start adaptive therapy technology to help acclimate new sleep therapy users, and Auto On/Off capabilities to automatically start and stop therapy when a user puts on or takes off their mask.
ENHANCED THERAPY DATA WITH BLUETOOTH & THE DREAMMAPPER APP
The DreamStation was built from the ground up to make therapy tracking and compliance easy and understandable for patients and doctors. Each device comes with onboard therapy data storage and built-in Bluetooth communications. After each sleep session the DreamStation displays a Sleep Progress report on the LCD screen. The Sleep Progress report shows nightly usage over the past 3 sleep sessions as well as summary data from the past 30 days. More detailed information is also available within the "My Info" section of the device or via the free DreamMapper App (iPhone, iPad & Android). An optional SD Data card is also available for extended therapy data storage.
DreamStation Auto tracks, and adjusts therapy levels to respond to, many common OSA related events including Hypopneas, Flow Limitation, Respiratory Effort Related Arousal, Snores, and Leaks. In addition it can detect many symptoms beyond classic OSA -- such as clear airway apneas and periodic breathing -- that may indicate the need for specialized therapy.

Great option for me as 2nd CPAP unit
I know that perhaps this is a unique case, but it was a great solution for me medically and monetarily. We have a weekend home and since I need the CPAP to sleep we were always packing up the CPAP and pack it for our trip. These are not cheap and to buy another unit was not covered by insurance. Also my present model was an older unit, so I wanted to see about purchase the same so I can use my accessories for either. When I did some searching I found this re-furbished model that was very less expensive and clicked off all the things that I was looking for. My previous DS was recalled for the defective foam. So I suffered many months almost a full year with Horrible sleep patterns. my beloved dream machine
Had about six years on ResMed Air Tech 10 and it was getting noisy. Wanted something new so I bought the DreamStation. It's auto-sense so you don't need a pressure setting. It works great. I think so because I am solidly asleep all night. Also I use about half the distilled water of the last machine and wake up with less dryness. You don't need a sleep study because the pressure is on demand and changes as needed. You don't need a DME(Durable Medical Equipment) provider because the direct purchase price is $330 less than the deductible. As you may know any CPAP is $1200 + through a DME. You pay 25% or 50%. I expect to get $165 back , out of network, from the insurance company. Direct Home Medical sent out the machine USPS same day I ordered it. About 5 days free priority mail cross country. Other delivery options are available for an extra charge. You need a prescription for a machine. Get it, you won't regret it.

Overall, a positive experience and solid equipment.
Out of the box, this thing is pretty useless. As a 20-year CPAP user, the default settings are horrible. It "adjusts" the pressure from nothing, up to slightly more than nothing. It also tries to emulate a BiPAP, which is very unsettling. The only instructions were to contact my "home healthcare professional", who could adjust the settings. Fortunately, before I packed it up for a return shipment, I found a couple of online articles that told exactly the keystrokes to use to enter setup mode. Apparently, this device can do everything for everybody. I turned them all off. I set the machine to "CPAP mode" and the pressure to the same one I've been using for 20 years. Worked like a charm. The machine is very quiet and the on/off switch works as expected. I downloaded the App and have been collecting the data. It believes that I respond well and that my mask fits (it does). As to accessories, the heated tubing is too short (I added another length of unheated) and the humidifier runs out of water before morning, leaving the smell of hot metal. [Don't really need it, anyway.]
